iDown: Megadeth discografia

Megadeth é um grupo musical norte-americano de Thrash Metal liderado pelo seu fundador, vocalista e guitarrista Dave Mustaine. O grupo foi formado em 1983, após Dave ser expulso do Metallica. Desde então, a banda lançou onze álbuns de estúdio, seis álbuns ao vivo, dois EPs e duas compliações.

Pioneiro do estilo Thrash, a banda ganhou fama internacional ligeiramente. Ficou muito conhecida por sempre trocar sua formação devido aos constantes problemas com drogas. Após se estabilizar, lançou álbuns premiados com o disco de ouro, platina e foi nomeado ao Grammy pelo álbum Countdown To Extinction em 1992. O grupo foi dissolvido em 2002, após Mustaine descobrir uma séria lesão no nervo do braço esquerdo, mas após dois anos de longa fisioterapia, Mustaine decidiu voltar a ativa com o lançamento do álbum The System Has Failed, e fazendo uma longa tour de shows. Megadeth faz parte do Big Four of Thrash, juntamente com Metallica, Slayer e Antrhrax.

No verão de 1983, apenas dois meses após o guitarrista Dave Mustaine ser expulso do Metallica após problemas com drogas, comportamento violento, e conflitos de personalidade com os demais membros da banda, Mustaine, o baixista David Ellefson, o guitarrista Greg Handevidt, e o baterista Dijon Carruthers criaram o Megadeth em Los Angeles. Mustaine mais tarde disse, "Após ser expulso do Metallica, tudo que eu lembrava era que eu queria sangue. O deles. Queria ser mais rápido e pesado que eles.".

Impulsionado pelo desejo de vingança, Mustaine aumentou a velocidade e intensidade das músicas que já tinha escrito, como "Mechanix", cujo a nova formação do Metallica adaptou para uma versão lenta e chamada "The Four Horsemen". Após a procura sem sucesso de seis meses por um novo vocalista, Mustaine decidiu assumir a posição, se tornando assim, líder, guitarrista, compositor e vocalista.

No início de 1984, o Megadeth gravou três demos, apresentando Mustaine, Ellefson, e Rausch, que continha ás músicas "Last Rites/Loved to Death", "Skull Beneath the Skin", e "Mechanix". Após alguns shows, Lee Rausch foi substituído pelo baterista Gar Samuelson. Após mostrar talento nas três demos, o Megadeth assinou contrato com uma Gravadora independente de Nova Iorque, chamada Combat Records, e em dezembro adicionou Chris Poland, como segundo guitarrista.

Com Poland, Mustaine, Samuelson e Ellefson tocando, o Megadeth lançou o demo Last Rites e em 1985 o primeiro e excelente Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good, com excepcional aceitação do público e da mídia.

Após lançarem Peace Sells... But Who's Buying em 1986 Chris Polland e Gar Samuelson foram despedidos da banda por Mustaine, sendo substituídos pelo guitarrista Jeff Young e pelo baterista Chuck Behler. Essa formação lançou um novo álbum intitulado So Far, So Good... So What! com destaque para a música In my Darkest Hour, que foi por 3 meses a mais tocada nas rádios americanas.

Infelizmente naquela época o relacionamento de Mustaine com os membros do grupo não era muito bom. Ele sofria de dependência de drogas, e foi preso algumas vezes por isso. Um dia a polícia prendeu-o com oito tipos de drogas injetáveis. Após isso ele teve que ser internado em uma clínica de reabilitação.

Poucos meses depois Mustaine dizia-se um novo homem e reformulou a banda que era composta pelo guitarrista Marty Friedman e o baterista Nick Menza.

Esta formação lançou o Álbum Rust In Peace, um sucesso de vendas em todo o mundo, e por várias semanas entre os TOP 10 dos Estados Unidos. Este álbum é considerado um classico do thrash metal, e alguns o apontam, ao lado de Master Of Puppets do Metallica, como o melhor de toda história desse estilo.

Em 1992, lançaram Countdown To Extinction, também um grande sucesso comercial. O destaque vai para a música Symphony of Destruction, que é a mais conhecida do público e foi regravada por várias outras bandas.

Youthanasia, lançado em 1994, manteve o bom nível do álbum anterior, e a música A tout le monde foi por quase 1 ano a mais tocada nas rádios dos Estados Unidos. No mesmo ano Dave acabou a briga com Hetfield e o Metallica tocou com o Megadeth várias vezes. Em meados dos anos 90, foi tentado uma reunião com a formação "quase original" do Metallica, com James Hetfield no vocal, Dave Mustaine na guitarra solo, Lars na bateria e o lugar de Cliff Burton seria ocupado por David Ellefson. Mas os contatos entre os empresários não deram certo.

No ano 95 lançaram o álbum Hidden Treasures que agradou o público mas a mídia não deu muita atenção.

Em 1997 o Megadeth lançou Cryptic Writings, um álbum de "volta às origens" com músicas que lembram toda a carreira da banda: "She-Wolf", "Trust", "Secret Place", "Vortex", "FFF", "Almost Honest", "The Desintegrators"

Nesse mesmo ano Nick Menza saiu da banda, os motivos são desconhecidos. Muitos dizem que um câncer no joelho o tirou da banda. Ele foi substituido por Jimmy DeGrasso.

Em 1999, a banda lançou o polêmico álbum Risk, que continha músicas semi-eletrônicas. Este álbum desiludiu muitos fãs da banda e foi um fracasso crítico e comercial. Destaque para a música "Crush Em'" que foi tema do filme Soldado Universal. Um dos fãs assumidos que a banda ganhou, foi o ator Jean-Claude van Damme, que hoje é um grande amigo de Dave Mustaine.

Mustaine previa que o álbum Risk seria o último do guitarrista Marty Friedman. Até hoje não se sabe ao certo o motivo de sua saída. A versão oficial é de que ele não queria mais tocar em nenhuma banda, e sim criar uma longa carreira solo, o qual vem dando certo até hoje no Japão. Para o seu lugar foi escalado Al Pitrelli, ex-guitarrista da banda Savatage.

Era o ano de 2001, e a banda lançava o polêmico álbum The World Needs a Hero. Este teve muito boa aceitação. Uma curiosidade é que a banda foi barrada ao entrar na Malásia para fazer um show. O motivo foi que "a banda causa má conduta e deixa os jovens visivelmente modificados".

No dia 3 de abril de 2002 Dave decide encerrar temporariamente o Megadeth por problemas em um nervo no braço. Naquela época ele entrou em crise com David Ellefson, o baixista da banda. Houve muitas brigas, inclusive judiciais. Em meio de todas essas confusões, Mustaine relança o álbum Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!, com novas faixas.

Era o ano de 2004, e todos pensavam que a banda ia encerrar definitivamente as suas atividades. Mas Dave Mustaine conseguiu recuperar do seu problema no nervo e anuncia o reinício da banda. Ainda lançam mais CDs remasterizados e com faixas novas.

Na metade do ano 2004, o Megadeth lança o álbum The System Has Failed. Para alguns o segundo melhor da história do grupo. As letras eram ótimas e faziam ataques ao atual governo americano. Chris Poland (guitarra), Vinnie Colaiuta (bateria) e Jimmy Lee Sloas (baixo) completaram a banda.

Após as vendas do novo álbum serem melhores de que o esperado, Mustaine anuncia uma tour pelo mundo inteiro. Chama o guitarrista Glen Drover e seu irmão Shawn Drover para a bateria. O baixista foi James MacDonough. Em 11 de outubro de 2005, a banda veio tocar no Brasil.

Em Fevereiro de 2006, o então baixista MacDonough foi despedido por Mustaine. Boatos na internet sugeriram a volta de David Ellefson, que fez as pazes com Dave um mês antes. Todos queriam isto menos ele. Chamou o baixista James LoMenzo.

Ainda em 2006 a banda lançou o novo DVD intitulado Arsenal of Megadeth que foi muito bem nas vendas nos Estados Unidos.

2007 foi um grande ano para a banda norte-americana. Em março, a banda lançou um DVD entitulado That One Night, Live in Argentina. United Abominations, o mais novo álbum de estúdio, saiu em maio e desponta como o retorno da banda às suas raízes, e vem fazendo muito sucesso entre os fãs do mundo inteiro onde alguns até dizem ser o melhor album desde o clássico Rust In Peace.

Recentemente, a banda lançou uma nova coletânea, intitulada Megadeth Warchest na qual traz 4 CD's com grandes músicas da banda, incluíndo inéditas e um DVD bonus de um show.

No dia 14 de Janeiro, Mustaine anunciou oficialmente a saída de Glen Drover por motivos particulares. O escolhido para substituir Glen foi o ex-guitarrista do Nevermore, Chris Broderick.

Projeto Paralelo
No ano 1996, Dave Mustaine, juntamente com Lee Ving, o vocalista da banda LA Punk Fear, formam o projeto paralelo ao Megadeth. A esse se dá o nome de MD.45. MD são as inicias de Dave Mustaine ao contrário, e 45 são as iniciais de Lee Ving, (LV) em números romanos invertidos. Jimmy DeGrasso "que futuramente iria fazer parte do Megadeth" era o baterista e Kelly Lemieux no baixo, completavam a formação. O grupo lançou em 1996 um álbum The Craving. Em 2004, este foi regravado mas dessa vez com Dave Mustaine nos vocais.

Controvérsia
Dave Mustaine se tornou popular por declarações polêmicas na imprensa, quase sempre abordando assuntos relacionados a rivalidades com antigos companheiros e músicos de bandas como Slayer e Metallica. Ficou conhecido por sua desavença com James Hetfield e Lars Ulrich, sempre acusando eles de ter feito uma grande injustiça após ter expulsado ele do Metallica e de eles terem roubado letras de músicas prontas de Dave, sem ao menos dar crédito a ele.
Em abril de 1988, em um concerto musical na Irlanda, Mustaine dedicou uma música à República Armada Irlandesa.Antes do final da música "Anarchy in the U.K.", Mustaine disse, "Essa música é pela nossa causa!". Uma grande confusão se gerou na platéia e a banda teve de usar um ônibus blindado até o fim da tour. Este incidente serviu de inspiração para outras músicas como "Holy Wars… the Punishment Due".
Em Julho de 2004, o antigo baixista David Ellefson processou Mustaine e pediu $18.5 milhões. Ellefson alegou que Dave Mustaine alterou seu contrato e se negou a um acordo após a banda acabar em 2002. Ellefson também acusou Mustaine de ficar com todo o dinheiro que a banda ganhava com propaganda e públicações em revistas. O processo foi interrompido em 2005,
Desde o retorno da banda, o Megadeth nunca mais tocou sons cujo abordava o diabo, por Mustaine ter se convertido a religião católica. Em 2004, Dave, se batizou novamente. Em maio de 2005, Mustaine cancelou dois show na Grécia e um em Israel, pois se negou a subir ao palco com bandas de black metal que utilizavam muitas referências Anti-Cristo em suas letras.
Desde o seu início, o Megadeth tem um tema que expoem com grande frequência nas suas músicas. Guerra - o que já é bem explicito no nome da banda. Nas músicas "Set The World Afire" e "Gears of War" ,Mustaine expõe os problemas de uma guerra nuclear. As músicas "Architecture of Aggression" e Hangar 18, mostram temas militares, que quase sofreram censura. A conheçida, Holy Wars... The Punishment Due fala sobre a guerra em Israel, e as consequencias do sangrento combate. Peace Sells.., fala sobre a paz mundial, cada vez mais afetada pelos políticos, que não se interessam por ela. Mas as músicas mais polêmicas na verdade, falam sobre suícidio. O videoclipe da música In my darkest hour foi banido da MTV mundial, porque passava esta mensagem. O mesmo aconteceu com a música "A tout le monde" , que apesar de não ser sobre o suicido é intrepretada por muitos como sendo. Apos a conversão de Dave Mustaine em 2004 ele tambem tem feito letras sobre o cristianismo como de Shadow of Death, Truth Be Told, Never Walk Alone e Blessed Are The Death.
